Kim Kardashian awarded symbolic €1 over 2016 Paris jewellery robbery

Kim Kardashian awarded symbolic €1 over 2016 Paris jewellery robbery

Reality star Kim Kardashian has been awarded a symbolic €1 in damages by a Paris court over the 2016 armed robbery in which she was held at gunpoint and robbed of millions of dollars’ worth of jewellery.

Kardashian had requested the nominal amount as a form of closure, stressing that the case was more about accountability and recognition of the trauma she suffered than financial compensation.

In a joint statement with her stylist, Simone Harouche, Kardashian thanked the French justice system and said the ruling would allow them to move forward and continue healing from the incident.

“The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” they said.

Harouche, who was staying with Kardashian at the time of the robbery, also received the €1 she had requested. She had locked herself in a bathroom during the incident while attempting to contact Kardashian’s bodyguard.

The court also awarded about $57,741 to the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where the robbery took place, and approximately $126,472 to a former receptionist.

The ruling follows the conviction of alleged ringleader Aomar Aït Khedache and seven others over their roles in the heist. French media dubbed the group “les papys braqueurs,” or “the grandpa robbers,” because most of the defendants were in their 60s or 70s when they faced trial.

Kardashian’s decision to seek symbolic damages reflects her stated focus on accountability and closure rather than financial compensation for the incident.
